Suspect Arrested, Charged in Fatal Traffic Accident at 9900 Palmhill

September 26, 2014 - Charges have been filed against a suspect arrested in a fatal traffic accident at 9900 Palmhill about 6 p.m. on Monday (September 22).  

The suspect, Chase Allan Satterwhite (w/m, 19), is charged with intoxication manslaughter and manslaughter in the 180th State District Court.  A photo of Satterwhite is attached to this news release.  

The male victim, 6, was transported by Life Flight Helicopter to Memorial Hermann Hospital where he later died.  His identity is pending verification by the Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences.  

HPD Vehicular Crimes Division Sergeant P. Kung and Officers N. Godin and D. Egdorf reported:  

Satterwhite was driving a blue Chevrolet Cobalt eastbound on Almeda Genoa at a high rate of speed.  A blue Honda Accord was traveling southbound on Palmhill.  The Honda was leaving a stop sign at the intersection and was struck by the Cobalt.  The passenger in the Cobalt (victim) was transported to the hospital where he died the following day (Sept. 23).  The female driver of the Honda was transported to Memorial Herman Southeast Hospital where she was treated and released.  A second male passenger (18-month-old) in the Honda was also transported to the same hospital and was treated and released.  

Satterwhite, who was not injured, was taken into custody at the scene.  He was determined to be intoxicated and subsequently charged.
