Update: Suspect Charged, Wanted in Fatal Stabbing at 621 McDaniel


August 14, 2015 - Charges have been filed against a suspect wanted in the fatal stabbing of a woman found at 621 McDaniel about 7:30 a.m. on July 25.  

The suspect, Juan Velez Lopez (H/m, 51), is charged with murder in the 185th State District Court for his role in the killing of Consuelo Pena, 57, of the above address.

HPD Homicide Division Sergeants A. Semmelrock, S. Murdock and Senior Police Officer B. Evans reported:  

HPD patrol officers responded to a welfare check call at the above address and found Ms. Pena deceased from several apparent stab wounds.  

Further investigation identified Lopez as the suspect in this case.  He and Ms. Pena were in a relationship and lived together.  Evidence indicates Lopez fled to Mexico.
