Suspect Arrested, Charged in Fatal Shooting at 5714 Fondren



December 21, 2015 - Charges have been filed against a suspect arrested in the fatal shooting of a man at 5714 Fondren about 10:30 p.m. on Sunday (Dec. 20).

The suspect, Manuel Alanis-Galeana (H/m 45) is charged with murder in the 248th State District Court.  A photo of Alanis-Galeana is attached to this news release.

The victim, believed to be 20 to 30 years of age, suffered gunshot wounds to the torso and was pronounced dead at the scene.  His identity is pending verification by the Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences.

HPD Homicide Division Officers D. Stark and G. Sullivan reported:

An HPD patrol officer, driving southbound in the 5700 block of Fondren, heard several gunshots from a nearby parking lot.  He then observed one male (the victim) fall to the ground and another (suspect Alanis-Galeana) get into a Ford pickup truck and flee the scene. The officer called for HFD paramedics and initiated a traffic stop on suspect Alanis-Galeana, who was taken into custody without incident.
