Investigation into Fatal Shooting at 1800 Mangum

February 2, 2015 - Houston police are investigating the fatal shooting of a man at 1800 Mangum about 12:50 a.m. on Saturday (Jan. 31).

The identity of the male victim, 25, is pending notification to family members by the Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences.

HPD Homicide Division Sergeant W. Meeler and Senior Police Officer J. Villareal reported:

Officers responded to a report of a male shot at the intersection of West 18th Street and Mangum. The victim was sitting in his vehicle at a red light when the suspect drove up in a large dark pickup truck and fired several gunshots through the window. Witnesses reported seeing no confrontation between the suspect and the victim prior to or during the shooting.

Investigators are exploring the possibility the shooting may be related to several other shootings in the area about the same time with a similar suspect vehicle description. A suspect in a similar wanted vehicle was later fatally shot by a Harris County Sheriff's deputy.
