Houston Police Department
Investigation into Fatal Shooting at 7979 Antoine

February 12, 2015 - Houston police are investigating the fatal shooting of one man and the wounding of another at 7979 Antoine about 7:55 p.m. on Tuesday (Feb. 10).

The deceased victim is identified as Abdullah Shakur, 65. The wounded victim, Samer Salem, 32, was transported to Memorial Hermann Hospital in stable condition.

HPD Homicide Division Sergeant N. Ruland reported:

Mr. Shakur and his cousin, Mr. Salem, were at a car stereo shop at the above address with the business owner and several employees when they saw three black male suspects with bandanas covering their faces and armed with guns approach the business. Shakur and Salem ran out of the business to confront the suspects. A physical altercation ensued and Shakur and Salem were shot. The suspects fled on foot southbound on Antoine. Paramedics transported Shakur to Ben Taub General Hospital where he was pronounced dead. Salem was taken to an area hospital with non-life-threatening wounds.

Evidence indicates the suspects might have arrived at the business in a light blue or silver, 2001-2003 Ford Mustang. Investigators believe it is possible one of the suspects was shot by one of the other suspects during the confrontation.

Anyone with information in this case is urged to contact the HPD Homicide Division at 713-308-3600 or Crime Stoppers at 713-222-TIPS.
