Investigation into Fatal Shooting at 7777 Greenbriar

February 19, 2015 - Houston police are investigating the fatal shooting of a woman in an apparent attempted murder-suicide at 7777 Greenbriar about 3:40 p.m. on Wednesday (February 18).

The victim, Takita Kyshawn Mathieu, 26, was pronounced dead at the scene. A male suspect suffered an apparent self-inflicted gunshot wound and was transported to Ben Taub General Hospital in critical condition.

HPD Homicide Division Officers R. Klementich and T. Colbert reported:

HPD patrol officers responded to a disturbance call with shots fired at the Greenbriar Apartments leasing office at the above address. Officers arrived and, as they entered the office, found Ms. Mathieu deceased and the wounded male. Witnesses told police Mathieu and the male were heard arguing moments before the shooting.

Further investigation determined Mathieu and the male had been in a dating relationship for several years and Mathieu ended the relationship about four months ago. Mathieu had previously contacted police to report the suspect for telephone harassment, with the most recent incident occurring earlier on Wednesday (February 18).
