Investigation into Fatal Traffic Accident at 2300 North Loop East

January 12, 2015 - Houston police are investigating a fatal traffic accident at 2300 North Loop East (North Interstate Highway 610 East) about 2:25 a.m. today (Jan. 12). 

One female victim was pronounced dead at the scene.  A second female was transported to an area hospital where she was pronounced dead.  The identities of both victims are pending verification by the Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences.  

HPD Vehicular Crimes Division Sergeant J. Roberts and Officer R. Bymaster reported:  

The driver of a silver Ford was traveling at a high rate of speed eastbound (wrong way) in the westbound lanes of the 610 North Loop East when it struck a gray Chevrolet Cobalt traveling eastbound.  

One female passenger in the Cobalt died at the scene.  A second female passenger in the Cobalt was taken to the hospital where she died.  The driver of the Cobalt was transported to Memorial Hermann Hospital with serious, but non life-threatening injuries.  

The male driver of the Ford was transported to Memorial Hermann Hospital with minor injuries.  

No charges have been filed at this time, as the investigation is ongoing.
