Investigation into Fatal Shooting at 2112 Roy

January 21, 2015 - The fatal shooting of a robbery suspect at 2112 Roy about 9:20 p.m. on Tuesday (January 20) will be referred to a Harris County grand jury.  

The identity of the deceased male suspect is pending verification by the Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences.  

The male shooter was not injured in the incident.  

HPD Homicide Division Sergeant P. Jewell and Officers T. Ferguson and T. Miller reported:  

A family had just arrived at their residence at the above address when they were robbed by two suspects.  One suspect struck a family member in the face with a handgun while the second suspect forced the family inside the residence.  

A friend of the family managed to retrieve his gun from his vehicle and fired at least once at one suspect, who fled the scene on foot. The male then confronted the second suspect and fatally shot him.  The first suspect was taken into custody by HPD patrol officers a short distance from the scene.  He is identified as Marquez Romero Heckard (b/m, 23) and faces three counts of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon and one count of aggravated robbery.  A photo of suspect Heckard is not available for release at this time.
