Suspects Arrested, Charged in January 2015 Fatal Shooting


July 9, 2015 - Charges have been filed against two suspects arrested in the fatal shooting of a juvenile male and the wounding of another male at 7106 Scott Street about 7:05 p.m. on January 13, 2015.  

The suspects, Chad E. Thompson (b/m, 18) and Shannon L. Freeman (b/m, 20), are charged with engaging in organized criminal activity in the 176th State District Court.  Both are accused in the killing of Zaveon Marquise Williams, 15, of Houston.  A second male, Darwin Foster, 18, suffered a gunshot wound and was transported to Ben Taub General Hospital where he was treated and released.

HPD Homicide Division Sergeants J. Brooks and C. Cegielski reported:  
Mr. Williams and Mr. Foster were in the area of the 7100 block of Scott Street when a vehicle drove by.  Several shots were fired in their direction from inside the vehicle.  Williams was struck and died at the scene.  Foster was also struck by the gunfire and transported to the hospital.  

Further investigation developed information that identified Thompson and Freeman as suspects in this case.  They were taken into custody on Wednesday (July 8) and subsequently charged.  
Investigators believe Thompson and Freeman may be responsible for other shooting incidents.  Anyone with information on either suspect is urged to contact the HPD Homicide Division at 713-308-3600.
