UPDATE: Suspect Arrested, Charged in Fatal Shooting at 8250 Park Place


July 16, 2015 - Houston police have arrested a suspect charged in the fatal shooting of a man at 8250 Park Place about 3:35 a.m. on Wednesday (July 15).

The suspect, Jeremy Wayne Miller (b/m, 24), is charged with murder in the 337th State District Court for his role in the killing of Daniel Arp, 55.  Miller will also be charged with two other felonies - attempt to take a weapon from a police officer and escape - as he tried to escape from arresting officers.

HPD Homicide Division Sergeant B. Harris and Senior Police Officer M. Waters reported:

Mr. Arp was working as a security officer for the apartment complex at the above address when he was shot by an unknown suspect. Officers were called and found Arp lying in the parking lot with gunshot wounds.  He was pronounced dead at the scene.  The suspect fled the scene on foot.

Investigators obtained surveillance photos of the suspect and publicly released them later that day.

Further investigation identified the suspect as Jeremy Wayne Miller, a male charged in a July 5, 2014, murder of a man at 1773 Nichole Woods.  Officers with the HPD Eastside Patrol Division Tactical Unit arrested Miller at his apartment at 77 Edgebrook about 7:30 p.m. on Thursday (July 16).  During the arrest, Miller tried to take an officer's gun and flee.  He later confessed to investigators his role in Arp's murder.  The motive in the shooting is not known at this time.

Miller was wearing a court-mandated ankle monitor (awaiting trial in the 2014 murder) during the fatal shooting on Park Place.
