Investigation into Fatal Crash at 1600 North Loop West


July 23, 2015 - Houston police are investigating a fatal crash at 1600 North Loop West (North Interstate Highway 610 West) about 2:05 a.m. today.

The male victim was pronounced dead at the scene.  His identity is pending verification by the Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences.

HPD Vehicular Crimes Division Sergeant T. Trometer and Senior Police Officer M. Pritchard reported:

The victim was driving a gray Chrysler 300 eastbound on the North Loop when, for unknown reasons, he stopped in a moving lane of traffic.  The victim exited the vehicle and was standing behind it when he was struck by a red Chevrolet Monte Carlo.  The driver of the Monte Carlo remained at the scene and was found not to be intoxicated.

At this time, there are no charges in this crash.  The investigation is continuing.
