Investigation into Fatal Crash at 2000 North Freeway

June 8, 2015 - Houston police are investigating a fatal crash that occurred at 2000 North Freeway (North Interstate Highway 45) about 7:10 a.m. on Saturday (June 6).


The male victim, 18, was pronounced dead at the scene. His identity is pending verification by the Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences.

HPD Vehicular Crimes Division Sergeant K. Harris and Officer E. Rubio reported:

The driver of a black Honda Prelude was traveling southbound on the North Freeway when, for unknown reasons, veered out of his lane and struck the rear of a dump truck. A black Chevrolet Suburban, also traveling southbound on the North Freeway veered in front of the dump struck and was struck. The passenger in the Honda died at the scene. The driver of the Honda, who showed no sign of intoxication, was transported to Ben Taub General Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. The driver of the Suburban was transported to St. Joseph Hospital with minor injuries. The driver of the dump truck was not injured.

No charges have been filed at this time, as the investigation is continuing.
