Update: Suspect Arrested, Charged in Fatal Shooting at 9601 West Montgomery

March 27, 2015 - Houston police have arrested a suspect charged in the fatal shooting of a man at 9601 West Montgomery about 12:10 p.m. March 19.  

The suspect, Treveon Lacy (b/m, 19), is charged with murder in the 228th State District Court.  A photo of Lacy is attached to this news release.

The victim, Joseph Rogers, 26, was pronounced dead at the scene.  

HPD Homicide Division Sergeant W. Meeler and Senior Police Officer J. Villareal reported:  

Mr. Rogers was inside his vehicle, parked near the 200 building of the Garden City apartments at the above address.  A male suspect then approached the vehicle and shot Rogers, who drove away from the scene as the suspect continued to fire shots at him.  The vehicle then crashed into a fence near the entrance of the apartment complex.  HFD paramedics responded to the scene and pronounced Rogers deceased.  

Investigators identified Lacy as a suspect in this case and learned he was connected to an unrelated aggravated robbery hours after the murder, near the murder scene.  On Tuesday (March 24), Lacy was arrested and charged with the robbery.  On Thursday (March 26), Lacy was then charged in this murder.
