4th UPDATE: Fourth Suspect Arrested in 2013 Fatal Shooting

May 6, 2015 - Houston police have arrested a fourth suspect charged in the fatal shooting of a man at 9489 Pagewood about 12:15 a.m. on July 7, 2013.

The suspect, Quenshaw Newsome (b/m, 22), is charged with murder in the 180th State District Court.  Three other suspects, Darryl Cooper (b/m, 27), Kendrick Monroe (b/m, 23) and Malcolm Willis Patterson (b/m, 25), are also charged with murder in the same court.

The victim, Jelani Simmonds, 29, of Houston, was pronounced dead at the scene.  

HPD Homicide Division Sergeant B. Williams and Officer J. Horn reported:

Tenants of a townhome community at the above address heard several gunshots and found the victim a short time later.  HFD paramedics responded to the scene and pronounced the man deceased.  

A preliminary investigation developed information that idenitifed Monroe as the suspect in this case.  He was arrested on Aug. 13, 2013 without incident.   The investigation also identified Cooper as a suspect in this case and he was arrested on Feb. 27, 2014 without incident.  Patterson was charged on March 3, 2014 and is in custody at a Texas Department of Corrections facility on unrelated charges.  

Further investigation identified Newsome as a suspect in this case and he was arrested on Tuesday (May 5) without incident.
