Investigation into Fatal Shooting at 2210 Pannell

- Houston police are investigating the fatal shooting of a man at 2210 Pannell about 5:30 a.m. on Tuesday (September 1).

The victim, Epifanio Martinez, believed to be in his 50s, of the above address, was pronounced dead at the scene.
HPD Homicide Division Sergeant B. Harris and Senior Police Officer M. Waters II reported:

Mr. Martinez and a friend were waiting in Martinez's front yard to be picked up for work when they were approached by two young black males who exited a gray or light colored, four-door sedan driven by a third suspect.  One suspect pointed a pistol against the friend's head and demanded money.  When the friend said he did not have any money, the two suspects made the same demands of Martinez.  A struggle ensued and Martinez was shot one time.  The suspects fled in the sedan.  Paramedics arrived and pronounced Martinez deceased.

The armed suspect is described only as a black male, 5 feet 4 inches to 5 feet 7 inches tall, a medium build, black hair, unshaven face and wearing brown shorts and a black T-shirt.  The second suspect is described only as a black male, about 5 feet 6 inches tall, a medium build, very short black hair, a thin goatee and was wearing black shorts and a brown shirt.
