HPD, Partners Offer Home Burglary Prevention Assistance to Elderly Sunnyside Residents

April 12, 2016 - From 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. TOMORROW (Wednesday, April 13), officers from the Houston Police Department's Community Services Unit, along with community agencies and businesses, will team up to help senior citizens prevent home burglaries.  The teams will provide home security surveys as well as crime prevention brochures and tips.

The event will be held at the Sunnyside Multi-Service Center at 9314 Cullen.

During the event, senior citizens will be encouraged to sign up for free home security surveys that will be provided at a later day by a certified HPD officer.  Once the security survey has been completed, many businesses and organizations have donated products, cash and services to provide any needed security upgrades the senior might require at their home.  These security upgrades will be installed, free of charge, at a later date.

This event is the first of four home security survey initiatives to be provided to elderly residents throughout the city who need help making their homes secure and safe.

This initiative is generously sponsored by: Allstate, African American Police Officer League, Chick Fil A, Crime Stoppers of Houston,  Harris County Area on Aging, Harris County Precinct 7, Houston Citizen's Police Academy Alumni,  Houston Fire Department, Houston Health Department,  Houston Ministers Against Crime, Houston Police Federal Credit Union, Houston Police Officer's Union, Police and Clergy Alliance,  The Home Depot, and Youth-Police Advisory Council.
