Two Suspects Arrested, Another Sought in Robbery/Shooting Incident at 7500 Bellaire Boulevard

August 29, 2016 - Charges have been filed against two suspects arrested in an incident in which an off-duty Houston police officer exchanged gunfire with a suspect during a robbery at 7500 Bellaire Boulevard about 5:15 p.m. on Saturday (August 27).

The two suspects, Edison Ibeabuchi (b/m, 20) and Jeremiah Riley (b/m, 17), are charged with aggravated robbery with a deadly weapon in the 248th State District Court.  Photos of the suspects are not available for release at this time.

A third suspect, described only as a black male, fled in a black Nissan Sentra and is still wanted at this time.

Officer I. Almasri, who discharged his duty weapon, was not injured in the incident.  He was sworn in as an officer in January 2016 and is assigned to the Southwest Patrol Division.

HPD Homicide Division Sergeant B. Thomas and Officers N. Sharp and D. Nabors reported:

Officer Almasri was in full uniform and working an off-duty, approved extra job at a shopping mall at the above address.  Three male suspects entered a jewelry store in the mall with the intent to commit a robbery.  One of the suspects saw Officer Almasri, pointed a gun at him and fired at him.  Fearing for his life, Officer Almasri exchanged gunfire with the suspect but no one was struck.  The suspects then fled the scene in a black Nissan Sentra.  Two of the suspects were taken into custody following a foot pursuit a short time later.

Anyone with information on the whereabouts of the wanted suspect is urged to contact the HPD Homicide Division at 713-308-3600 or Crime Stoppers at 713-222-TIPS.

As is customary in HPD officer-involved shooting incidents in the city limits, this case is being investigated by the HPD Homicide and Internal Affairs Divisions.
