Investigation into Fatal Crash at 4000 South Loop West


January 15, 2016 - Houston police are investigating a fatal hit-and-run crash that occurred at 4000 South Loop West (South Interstate Highway 610 West) about 6:30 a.m. today (Jan. 15).  

The male pedestrian, 56, was pronounced dead at the scene.  His identity is pending verification by the Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences.

HPD Vehicular Crimes Division Sergeant L. Ross and Officer D. Henley reported:

The driver of an unknown vehicle, traveling eastbound at the above address, exited the freeway and struck the victim who was in the roadway.  The driver then fled the scene.  A second motorist, driving a silver Nissan Rogue, also exited the freeway and struck the victim who was now lying in the roadway.  The driver of the Nissan remained at the scene and was questioned and released.
