Investigation into Fatal Shooting at 6610 Tidwell


July 18, 2016 - Houston police are investigating the fatal shooting of one male and the wounding of three others at 6610 Tidwell about 1 a.m. on Sunday (July 17).

One victim, Edward James Long, 49, was pronounced dead at the scene.  Two other male victims, both 18, were transported to Ben Taub General Hospital with non-life threatening wounds.  A fourth male victim, 15, was transported by private vehicle to Lyndon B. Johnson General Hospital with non-life threatening wounds.

HPD Homicide Division Sergeant H. Garcia, Senior Police Officer B. Nabors and Officer R. Klementich reported:

HPD patrol officers responded to a reported shooting at the above address.  Upon arrival, they observed Mr. Long in the Walgreens parking lot suffering from multiple gunshot wounds.  At this time, it appears he was shot by a suspect(s) targeting the other three males.
