Suspect Arrested, Charged in Fatal Crash at 8600 Sands Point


July 25, 2016 - Charges have been filed against a suspect arrested in a fatal crash that occurred at 8600 Sands Point about 2:40 a.m. today (July 25).

The suspect, Daniel Adonias (H/m, 25), is charged with intoxication manslaughter in the 184th State District Court.  A photo of Adonias is attached to this news release.

The male victim, 65, was transported to Memorial Hermann Southwest Hospital where he was pronounced dead. 

HPD Vehicular Crimes Division Sergeant I. Duplechain and Officer D. Lunceford reported:

The suspect, Adonias, was driving a black Toyota Scion at the above address when he put the vehicle in reverse and began rapidly backing up.  He drove the vehicle over a curb and struck the victim, who was standing on the sidewalk.  Adonias continued driving backward into a building where he knocked a hole in the wall.  Adonias then drove forward onto the street where he struck three parked vehicles in an adjoining parking lot, causing one of them to crash through the wall of an apartment building.  Adonias was detained at the scene by HPD patrol officers.  He was subsequently charged after tests determined he was impaired.
