Update: Suspect Charged in January 2014 Murder Investigation

June 21, 2016 - Charges have been filed in the death of a female found at 2908 Rosalie about 11:50 a.m. on January 23, 2014.

The suspect, Reginald Brown (b/m,46), is charged with murder in the 339th State District Court.  He is accused in the killing of Amanda Lewis, 30, of Prarie View.  An autopsy by the Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences determined Ms. Lewis suffered gunshot wounds.

A photo of Brown, who is currently incarcerated in the Texas Department of  Criminal Justice for an unrelated crime, is not available.

HPD Homicide Division Sergeant M. A. Holbrook and Senior Police Officers J. Roscoe and Officer L. Bailey reported:

A male witness wandered by an abandoned house at the above address and saw a deceased female (Ms. Lewis) lying in the utility room of the house.  The witness than ran out and told a relative, who then called police.

A preliminary investigation identified Brown as a possible suspect.  In March 2014, HPD homicide investigators interviewed Brown who, at that time, was in the Harris County jail on an unrelated charge, and he initially denied any involvement in Lewis' death.

Further investigation and DNA evidence from the scene, entered into the Combined DNA Index System (CODIS), positively identified Brown as the suspect in this case.  He was charged last Friday (June 17) for his role in Lewis' death.
