Surveillance Photos of Suspect in Fatal Shooting at 8550 F.M. 1960 West

March 13, 2016 - Houston police homicide investigators have released surveillance photos of a suspect wanted in the fatal shooting of a man at 8550 F.M. 1960 West about 8:10 p.m. on Saturday (March 12).

The suspect is described only as a black male with a dark complexion, in his early 20s, about 5 feet 8 inches tall, and 130 to 145 pounds with a fit build.  He was wearing a short-sleeved gray hoodie with white tie strings, and a red or pink ball cap.  Surveillance photos of the suspect are attached to this news release.

The victim, identified as Zia Siddiqui, 51, of Spring, Texas, was pronounced dead at the scene.
HPD Homicide Division Sergeant B. Harris reported:

The suspect entered the convenience store at the above address, looked around inside for a few minutes and went to the register where he placed a soda on the counter.  He then pulled a gun, pointed it an employee and demanded money.  The employee ran back to the kitchen, which is connected to the office where his boss, Mr. Siddiqui was.  Siddiqui had a gun in his hand and he and his employee tried to close the door.  The suspect got in the way of the door, stopping them from closing it.  As they continued to push the door, the suspect forced his way inside and started shooting.  Evidence indicates the suspect might also have been shot.  The suspect fled the store and ran through a field toward an apartment complex.  Siddiqui was pronounced deceased.

Anyone with any information on the suspect's identity or information in this case is urged to contact the HPD Homicide Division at 713-308-3600 or Crime Stoppers at 713-222-TIPS.
