Suspect Arrested, Charged in Fatal Crash at 4500 West Orem
May 2, 2016 - Charges have been filed against a suspect arrested in a fatal crash at 4500 West Orem about 1:55 a.m. on Saturday (April 30).
The suspect, Milton Deshay Edwards (b/m, 42), is charged with driving while intoxicated in Harris County Criminal Court #1. A photo of Edwards (with lacerations sustained in the crash) is attached to this news release.
The identity of the male victim is pending verification by the Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences.
HPD Vehicular Crimes Division Sergeant A. Thomas and Officer A. Holmes reported:
The victim was driving a white Pontiac Sunfire and making a U-turn south on Hiram Clarke near West Orem. At that time, the driver (Edwards) of a silver Infiniti M35 was traveling south on Hiram Clarke at a high rate of speed when his vehicle struck the right passenger side of the Sunfire. The driver of the Sunfire was pronounced dead the scene. The driver of the Infiniti was taken into custody and determined to be impaired.
The investigation is continuing.
