Investigation into Infant's Death at 5918 Nelwyn


August 21, 2017 - Houston police are investigating the death of an infant at 5918 Nelwyn about 3:10 p.m. on Saturday (August 19). 

The child, Michael James Obergas, 2 months, was pronounced dead at Memorial Hermann Greater Heights Hospital. 

HPD Homicide Division Sergeant M. Holbrook and Senior Police Officer J. Roscoe reported: 

HPD patrol officers responded to the above address regarding a report of a child bitten by a dog.  Baby Michael was transported by HFD paramedics to the hospital. 

A preliminary investigation determined Michael had been left in a secure bedroom and one of the family dogs managed to open the door and attacked him.  Parents of the child were questioned and released.  Both dogs were taken by the City of Houston Bureau of Animal Regulation and Control. 

No charges have been filed at this time, as the investigation is continuing.
