Investigation into Fatal Crash at 10900 South Sam Houston Parkway West


March 13, 2017 - Houston police are investigating a fatal crash that occurred at 10900 South Sam Houston Parkway West service road at about 5:20 p.m. on Sunday (March 12).  

The identities of the deceased male victim, 28, and his female passenger, 26, are pending verification by the Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences.    

HPD Vehicular Crimes Division Sergeant L. Ross and Officer D. Jones reported:  

The driver of a white Dodge Durango was traveling northbound on the South Sam Houston Parkway service road, ran the red light at the intersection of West Airport Boulevard and struck the passenger side of a white Nissan 350z traveling eastbound on West Airport.  The Dodge then struck a light pole on the east side of the street and came to a stop.  The impact caused the the Nissan to go through the median and strike a traffic sign and a Honda CRV stopped at the light on the Westbound lanes of West Airport.  

The female passenger of the Nissan died at the scene.  The driver of the Nissan was transported to Ben Taub General Hospital where he was pronounced dead.  The driver of the Honda was not injured.  The driver of the Dodge was transported by HFD paramedics to Memorial Hermann Southwest Hospital where he remains in critical condition.  

The investigation is continuing.
