May 18, 2017HOUSTON - Charges have been filed against an armed suspect who fired shots at Houston police officers at 3602 Hollister Road about 12:50 a.m. on Wednesday (May 17).

The male suspect, 16, was referred to Harris County Juvenile Probation authorities on charges of aggravated assault on a peace officer and evading on foot.

No HPD officers discharged a weapon.

HPD Homicide Division Sergeant M. Dillingham and Officer J. Snook reported:

HPD patrol officers attempted to conduct a traffic stop on a vehicle driving erratically in the 8000 block of Pitner Road and the driver refused to stop.  Officers activated emergency equipment and initiated a vehicle pursuit.

The suspect vehicle then crashed into a culvert and at least four suspects exited the vehicle and fled on foot.  Officers immediately detained one female juvenile.  As the other suspects fled, one of them turned and fired a gun several times in the direction of officers, but no one was struck.

The female juvenile then directed officers to where the other suspects were believed to be hiding and the remaining suspects were detained at an apartment complex at 8650 Pitner.  The juvenile shooter was identified and subsequently charged.

The investigation is continuing.
