Suspect Arrested, Charged in Stabbing of Man at 9122 South Allegro


September 5, 2017 - Charges have been filed against a suspect arrested in the stabbing of a man at 9122 South Allegro about 7:05 a.m. on August 31.  

The suspect, Michael O'Brien (w/m, 26), is charged with aggravated assault of a family member in the 178th State District Court.  A photo of suspect O'Brien is attached to this news release.  

The victim, Brian Spriggs, 52, of the above address, was transported to Ben Taub General Hospital in stable condition.  

HPD Major Assaults Unit Officers J. Nielsen and P. Morrison reported:  

Mr. Spriggs and his girlfriend's son (O'Brien) got into an argument during which he was stabbed by O'Brien.  He then told a witness to call 9-1-1 and waited at the scene for HPD officers to arrive.  O'Brien provided a statement to officers and he was taken into custody without incident.
