Suspect Arrested, Charged in Shooting at 2500 Deams


September 13, 2017 - Charges have been filed against a suspect arrested in the shooting of a man at 2500 Deams about 6:15 p.m. on Tuesday (September 12).  

The suspect, Christian Osiel Garcia (H/m, 25), is charged with aggravated assault with serious bodily injury in the 184th State District Court.  A photo of Garcia is attached to this news release.  

The victim, Gary Hurta, 23, of Houston, was transported to Memorial Hermann Hospital in an unknown condition.  

HPD Homicide Division Sergeant J. Rhodes and Officer E. May reported:  

HPD patrol officers responded to a shooting call at the above address and found Mr. Hurta lying in the street.  He appeared to have sustained gunshot wounds to his head and body.  He was transported by HFD paramedics to the hospital.  

Further investigation and witness statements developed information that identified Garcia as the suspect.  Garcia's vehicle was located at a nearby washateria and when he returned to the vehicle he was taken into custody without incident.
