Investigation into Shooting Incident at 3300 Old Spanish Trail

Houston police are investigating a shooting incident in which a suspect exchanged gun shots with Fort Bend County Sheriff's deputies at 3300 Old Spanish Trail at 12:05 a.m. today (April 23).

The suspect, who remains at-large, is described only as a black male, 210 pounds, approximately 5 feet 7 inches to 5 feet 10 inches tall and between 27 to 32 years old.  He was wearing a white Chicago Bulls basketball jersey, possibly with the number 23, and blue jeans.

The two Fort Bend County Sheriff's deputies who discharged their weapons at the suspect were not injured in this incident.

HPD Special Investigations Unit Investigators R. Lujan and R. DeLaRosa reported:

The Fort Bend County Sheriff's deputies were working an extra job providing security at a night club called "The Address" at 3333 Raleigh Street.  The deputies observed a disturbance between several males in the front parking lot area.  The male then ran across Old Spanish Trail where deputies observed the suspect pull a pistol from his waist band and fire several times at other patrons.  The deputies pursued the suspect yelling "police" and giving him commands to drop his weapon.  The suspect stopped, turned toward the deputies, and fired several times at them.  The deputies, in fear of their safety and for the safety of other patrons, discharged their duty weapons at the suspect.  The suspect then fled on foot westbound toward Highway 288 and then southbound until the deputies lost sight of him.  It is unknown at this time if the suspect was struck.

As is customary in officer-involved shooting incident(s) in the city limits, this case is being investigated by the HPD Homicide Division Special Investigations Unit and the Harris County District Attorney's Office.
