Investigation into Fatal Crash at 10488 Katy Freeway
August 13, 2018 - Houston police are investigating a fatal crash at 10488 Katy Freeway (West Interstate Highway 10) service road about 12:30 a.m. on Sunday (August 12).
The identity of the male victim, 57, is pending verification by the Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences.
HPD Vehicular Crimes Division Sergeant S. Maness and Officer J. Hill reported:
According to a witness, the victim was driving a Mercedes Benz S500 westbound on the Katy Freeway at a high rate of speed and exited the freeway. The Mercedes crossed all four lanes of the service road, drove onto the curb and struck an iron fence. The vehicle then burst into flames. The witness attempted to pull the victim out of the vehicle but was unable to do so. The victim died at the scene.
The investigation is continuing.
