Investigation into Fatal Crash at 4000 South Loop West


January 29, 2017 - Houston police are investigating a fatal crash that occurred at 4000 South Loop West (South Interstate Highway 610 West) about 11:20 a.m. today (January 29).  

The identity of the male victim, a pedestrian, is pending verification by the Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences.  

HPD Vehicular Crimes Division Sergeant G. Hall and Officer J. Perrotte reported:  

The driver of silver Nissan Murano was traveling eastbound on the South Loop and struck the rear of a blue Ford Aerostar van that was disabled in a moving lane of traffic.  The impact pushed the van forward and it struck the victim, who was standing in front of the disabled vehicle.  He died at the scene.  The driver of the Nissan remained at the scene and was questioned and released.  

No other vehicles were involved in the crash.
