Investigation into Fatal Crash at 5600 Katy Freeway

November 13, 2018 - A man critically injured in a crash at 5600 Katy Freeway (Interstate Highway 10 West) about 11:25 p.m. last Friday (Nov. 9) has died.

The identity of the victim, 48, is pending verification by the Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences.

HPD Vehicular Crimes Division Sergeant R. Gonzales and Officer J. Glenn reported:

The victim was driving a white Volkswagen CC sedan westbound on the Katy Freeway when he rear-ended a white Ford F-150 pickup truck traveling in the same direction.  The Volkswagen became disabled and stopped in a moving lane of traffic.  At that time, a black Jeep Cherokee struck the Volkswagen.  Paramedics transported the driver of the Volkswagen to Memorial Hermann Hospital where doctors pronounced him dead on Monday (Nov. 12). 

No other injuries were reported in the crash.  The driver of the Jeep was determined not to be impaired and was questioned and released.
