Investigation into Fatal Crash at 200 West Gray Street

October 30, 2018 - Houston police are investigating a fatal crash that occurred at 200 West Gray about 6:35 a.m. on Monday (Oct. 29).

The  identity of the male pedestrian, 89, is pending notification to family members by the Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences.

HPD Central Patrol Division Senior Police Officer D. Leo reported:

The driver of a black Dodge Ram pickup truck stated he was stopped at a red light while eastbound on West Gray Street.  When the light turned green, he started to turn right when he struck the pedestrian directly in front of him.  It is not clear at this time whether the driver or the pedestrian had the right of way.

The pedestrian was transported by ambulance first to Saint Joseph Medical Center then transferred to Memorial Hermann Hospital where he was pronounced dead.

The driver remained at the scene and was questioned by police.  There are no charges in this incident, as the investigation is continuing.
