Suspect Charged, Wanted in Fatal Shooting at 8000 Cobblefield Lane

September 3, 2018 - Charges are pending against a suspect wanted in the fatal shooting of a man in the 8300 block of Cobblefield Lane about 6:30 a.m. today (September 3).

The suspect, LaMarcus Morris (b/m, 33), has a pending charge of murder.  A photo of Morris is not available at this time.

The victim was pronounced dead at the scene.

HPD Homicide Division Sergeant J. Burton reported:

The victim and his girlfriend were at a residence at the above address when her estranged boyfriend (Morris) arrived and attempted to gain entry.  An argument between the two men escalated into a physical confrontation.  Surveillance video (not releasable at this time) appears to show Morris then retrieved a firearm from his vehicle.  The victim attempted to flee, however he was fatally shot once in the back by Morris.

Morris fled the scene in a black Cadillac Escalade with Texas license plates beginning with the letters JK.  He currently remains at large.
