Investigation into Fatal Crash at 2200 Alabama

April 8, 2019 - Houston police are investigating a fatal hit-and-run crash that occurred at 2200 Alabama about 1:50 a.m. on Sunday (April 7).

The male victim was pronounced dead at the scene.  His identity is pending verification by the Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences.

HPD Vehicular Crimes Division Sergeant D. Rose and Officer J. Baker reported:

The victim was riding a bicycle southbound in the 3900 block of Hutchins when he failed to yield the right of way at a stop sign at the intersection of Alabama.  The bicyclist was struck by a white pickup truck traveling westbound on Alabama and whose driver did not have a stop sign.  Witnesses reported seeing the pickup truck's driver stop for a moment then speed away without getting out of the vehicle.
