Suspect Arrested, Charged in Fatal Crash at 11200 FM 1960 East
December 13, 2019 - Charges have been filed against a suspect arrested in a fatal crash at 11200 FM 1960 East about 1 p.m. on November 19.
The suspect, Sheila Files (w/f, 49), is charged with intoxication manslaughter in the 174th State District Court. A booking photo of Files is attached to this news release.
The victim, Valarie Jones, 56, was pronounced deceased at the scene.
HPD Vehicular Crimes Division Sergeant M. Warhol and Officer Cisneros reported:
Ms. Jones was operating a black Suzuki motorcycle and Files was driving a white GMC Sierra pickup truck. Both were travelling westbound at the above address. Jones slowed down to turn into her apartment complex. Files failed to control her speed and struck the rear of the motorcycle.
Paramedics pronounced Jones deceased at the scene. Files was detained, determined to be intoxicated and subsequently charged.
