Investigation into Fatal Crash at 4900 West Bellfort Avenue

February 18, 2019 - Houston police are investigating a fatal crash that occurred at 4900 West Bellfort Avenue about 7 p.m. on Saturday (February 16).

The female victim, 70, was pronounced dead at the scene.  Her identity is pending verification by the Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences.

HPD Vehicular Crimes Division Sergeant R. Gonzales and Officer C. Dinh reported:

The victim was driving a silver Lexus ES 350 sedan southbound on Balmforth Lane.  After stopping at a stop sign at the intersection of West Bellfort, the victim entered the intersection, failing to yield the right of way to the driver of a white Nissan Maxima traveling westbound at the above address.  The Nissan struck the Lexus' driver's side.

The Nissan's male driver, 20, was transported to Memorial Hermann Hospital.  A preliminary investigation showed no signs of intoxication in the crash.  There are no charges in this incident, as the investigation is continuing.
