The identity of the male victim, 18, is pending notification to family members by the Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences.

HPD Homicide Division Sergeant C. Sturdivant and Detective W. Gilbert reported:

The victim was standing just off the street at the above address where a large, planned party was being held.  An unknown vehicle pulled up, someone inside the vehicle shot the victim multiple times and then fled the scene in an unknown direction.

Friends of the victim loaded him into a private vehicle in an attempt to take him to the hospital.  While on the phone with Houston Fire Department dispatch personnel, the friends were advised to pull over to allow HFD ambulance personnel to reach them.  The vehicle pulled over in the 9000 block of the Gulf Freeway (South Interstate Highway 45) service road with an ambulance arriving soon after.  Paramedics found the victim lying on the ground in the grass, just outside the vehicle, and pronounced him dead at the scene.
