Investigation into Fatal Crash at 2700 Magnet Street

July 25, 2019 - Houston police are investigating a fatal crash at 2700 Magnet Street about 3:20 p.m. on Wednesday (July 24).  

The identity of the male victim, 65, is pending verification by the Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences.  

HPD Vehicular Crimes Division Sergeant F. Briones and Officer D. Sulaiman reported: 

The driver of a tractor trailer truck was driving at a slow speed eastbound on Magnet when he suffered a medical emergency.  The 18-wheeler then veered off the roadway and struck a private property fence line and a male pedestrian standing nearby. 

The driver of the 18-wheeler was transported to an area hospital where he was pronounced deceased.  The male pedestrian, 40, suffered major injuries to both legs but is expected to survive.  

The investigation is continuing.
