Traffic Incident at Airline and East Little York

December 17, 2006 -- Houston police are investigating an apparent fatal traffic accident in the 7800 block of Airline about 4:55 p.m. on Saturday (December 16).

The victim, Michael Byrd, 37, of 15718 Western Skies, was taken to Memorial Hermann Northwest Hospital where he later died from undetermined injuries. An autopsy by the Harris County Medical Examiner's office will determine his manner of death.

HPD Mobility Incident Management Division Sergeant A.C. Francois and Officer Y. Bashir reported:

HPD officers responded to a major accident call at 7800 Airline and found the driver and passenger had gotten out of their vehicle prior to the officers' arrival. A few moments later, officers received a call regarding a person down at the intersection of Airline and East Little York. Witnesses reported seeing Mr. Byrd attempting to stop vehicles for help before he collapsed. Items recovered inside the vehicle led officers to believe Byrd might have
been driving the car.
