Incident at 3900 Broadway

April 6, 2006 -- Charges are pending against a suspect arrested in the shooting of a man at 3900 Broadway about 7:50 p.m. on Wednesday (Apr. 5).

The suspect is identified as William Jamaal Ellis (b/m, DOB 3/10/81). He remains in custody.

Investigators are seeking the public's help in identifying the victim who was transported to Ben Taub General Hospital in critical condition. He is Hispanic, 20-30 years of age, approximately 5 feet 6 inches tall and weighing approximately 150 pounds. He was wearing a yellow T-shirt, blue jeans, a brown belt and a pair of new black dress shoes. The victim was riding on Metro bus #3498, Route #50.

HPD Homicide Division Sergeant C. Grysen and Officer T. Hufstedler reported:

According to witnesses, the victim was seated aboard a moving Metro bus near the front when William Ellis, who was seated at the rear, got up and approached him. As Ellis neared the front of the bus, he pulled a handgun and shot the victim in the head. Ellis then fled on foot to a near by church where he surrendered to the pastor who disarmed and held him until police arrived. A motive for the shooting is unknown at this time.

estigation into Shooting at 7800 Airport Boulevard

October 14, 2020 - Houston police are investigating the shooting of a man at 7800 Airport Boulevard about 1:20 p.m. on Tuesday (October 13). 

The victim, 31, was transported to an area hospital in stable condition.  

HPD Major Assaults & Family Violence Division Officers A. Merino and M. Combs reported:  

The victim was driving near the above address.  While stopped at the intersection of Broadway another vehicle pulled up next to him.  The male driver and an unknown female passenger exited the vehicle and approached the victim's vehicle and arguing with him.  The male driver then pulled out a pistol and shot the victim multiple times, striking him in the arm and abdomen.  The male and female then got back into their vehicle and fled the scene.  The victim then drove to a gas station in the 6300 block of Telephone Road and called 9-1-1.  

Houston Fire Department paramedics responded to the scene and transported the victim to the hospital.  

The suspect is described only as a black male driving a dark-colored, four-door Honda Accord.
