Suspects Arrested, Charged in Shooting Incident at 6700 Wanda Lane

October 26, 2020 - Houston police have arrested an adult male and two male juveniles in the shooting incident that occurred at 6500 Wanda Lane about 5:15 p.m. on Friday (October 23).

Angel Gutirrez (H/m, 19), is charged with misdemeanor unlawful carrying of a weapon in Harris County Criminal Court #6.  A booking photo of Guitirrez is not available at this time.

Two juvenile suspects, ages 14 and 15, were referred to Harris County Juvenile Probation authorities on charges of unlawful carrying of a weapon. 

HPD Major Assaults & Family Violence Division Officers M. Althaus and Z. Brumley reported 

Gutierrez and three juveniles were sitting in a vehicle at the above address passing handguns to each other and taking photos of themselves. One of the juvenile males accidentally shot himself in the leg and Gutierrez called 9-1-1.  In an effort to hide their actions, he reported the four males had been the victims of a drive-by shooting.  The wounded juvenile was transported to an area hospital where he was treated and released.

Further investigation revealed the juvenile had shot himself and the gun they were handling was stolen.  Suspects Gutirrez, the juvenile who had shot himself, 15, and one other juvenile suspect, 14, were all arrested for their roles in the incident.  The third juvenile was questioned and released.
