Investigation into Fatal Shooting at 7700 Prestwood Drive

September 1, 2020 - Houston police are investigating the fatal shooting of a man at 7700 Prestwood Drive about 7 p.m. on Monday (August 31).

The victim, 27, was pronounced deceased at the scene.  His identity is pending verification by the Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences.

HPD Homicide Division Detectives J. Caten and D. Higgs reported:

HPD patrol officers responded to a reported shooting at the above address.  Upon arrival, they found the deceased victim in the driver's seat of a vehicle that had crashed into a tree.  The male passenger was also shot and was transported to an area hospital with what are believed to be non-life-threatening wounds. A small child, approximately 2 years-old, suffered injuries believed to be related to the crash and was also transported to an area hospital.

According to witnesses, another vehicle was parked across from the victim's vehicle.  The suspect inside the Toyota began shooting, striking the victim and passenger, before fleeing the scene southbound on Fondren Drive.

The suspect is described only as a black male driving a gold Toyota Corolla or Camry with heavy window tint and possibly a spoiler on the back.
