Suspect Charged, Wanted in Fatal Shooting at 4831 North Shepherd Drive

April 12, 2021 - Charges have been filed against a suspect wanted in the fatal shooting of a man at 4831 North Shepherd Drive about 3 p.m. on Sunday (April 11).

The suspect, Jamarcus Renard Toliver (b/m, 32), is charged with murder in the 185th State District Court.  A photo of Toliver is attached to this news release.  He is not in custody.

The victim, Joseph Lewis, 38, was pronounced deceased at the scene.

HPD Homicide Division Detectives E. Martinez and L. Palma reported:

Mr. Lewis and Toliver drove into the parking lot of the motel at the above address and got into a confrontation.  At some point, Toliver (in the driver's seat) fired shots at Lewis, striking him, as he sat in the passenger seat.  Toliver pushed Lewis out of the car and ran over him as he fled the scene.
