Investigation into Fatal Crash at 3200 South Gessner Drive

April 12, 2021 - Houston police are investigating a fatal crash at 3200 South Gessner Drive about 8:15 p.m. on Saturday (April 10).

The identity of the male victim is pending verification by the Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences.

HPD Vehicular Crimes Division Sergeants F. Briones, S. Jewell and Officer E. Morgado reported:

According to a witness, the victim was driving a white pickup truck northbound at a high rate of speed at the above address and tried to pass on the left side where there was not a lane (only a turn around).  As he pulled back into the main lanes, the driver lost control of the truck, struck a curb and then traveled onto the grassy median.  The truck then struck a concrete bridge, causing the gas tank to rupture and spill gasoline.  As the truck rolled over, the gasoline ignited causing the pickup to catch on fire.

There were no other passengers or motorists involved in this crash.  The investigation is continuing.
