Suspect Arrested, Charged in Stabbing at 5450 West Gulf Bank Road

August 12, 2021 - Charges have been filed against a suspect arrested in the stabbing of a man at 5350 West Gulf Bank Road that occurred about 11:30 a.m. on Wednesday (August 11).  

The suspect, Christopher Swopes (b/m, 44), is charged with aggravated assault of a family member in the 176th State District Court. A booking photo of Swopes is attached to this news release. 

He is accused in the stabbing of his brother, Jarvis Steen, 23, who was transported to an area hospital in stable condition. 

HPD Major Assaults & Family Violence Division Officer B. Cerritos reported:  

HPD patrol officers responded to a disturbance with a weapon at an apartment complex at the above address and learned Mr. Steen and Swopes got into an argument.  During the argument, Swopes stabbed Steen multiple times then fled the scene.  Steen was transported by private vehicle to the hospital.  

Swopes was taken into custody a short time later. The Harris County District Attorney's Office was contacted and Swopes was charged for his role in the incident.
