Investigation into Fatal Crash at 10100 Bissonnet Street

August 16, 2021 - Houston police are investigating a fatal crash at 10100 Bissonnet Street about 9:15 p.m. on Sunday (August 15).

The identity of the male victim, 69, is pending verification by the Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences.

HPD Vehicular Crimes Division Sergeant D. Rose and Officer R. Romo reported:

An HPD officer was traveling in a marked patrol vehicle westbound on Bissonnet and attempting to catch up to a suspect wanted in a Vice Division investigation.  The victim, a pedestrian, was at a bus stop and suddenly ran across the main lanes of Bissonnet Street, not in a crosswalk.  The officer tried to avoid the pedestrian, but the man was struck.  Paramedics transported the man to Ben Taub General Hospital where he was later pronounced deceased.  No officers were injured.  Another patrol officer was able to stop the vehicle in the Vice Division case and arrested the suspect.

The investigation is continuing.
