December 6, 2021 - Houston police are investigating a fatal crash at 4100 Reed Road about 5:50 p.m. on Saturday (Dec. 4).

The identity of the male victim is pending verification by the Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences.

HPD Vehicular Crimes Division Sergeant F. Briones and Officer C. Sartor reported:

An HPD officer was traveling with emergency lights activated westbound at the above address to assist in a police pursuit when the marked patrol vehicle left the roadway and struck a pedestrian.  The officer's vehicle continued traveling and struck a trash dumpster in a business parking lot. 

The pedestrian was pronounced deceased at the scene.

As is customary when someone dies in the presence of HPD officers, the incident is being investigated HPD Internal Affairs Division and the Harris County District Attorney's Office.
