Investigation into Fatal Crash at 8800 Westheimer Road

January 6, 2021 - Houston police are investigating a fatal hit-and-run crash at 8800 Westheimer Road about 7:50 p.m. on Tuesday (January 5).

The identity of the male victim is pending verification by the Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences.

HPD Vehicular Crimes Division Sergeant J. Uribe and Officer J. Johnson reported:

The victim, a bicyclist, was traveling northbound on the sidewalk in the 2700 block of Fondren Road.  The driver of an unknown black SUV was also traveling northbound on Fondren Road.  As the victim attempted to cross the Westheimer Road intersection, he was struck by the black SUV turning eastbound onto Westheimer Road.  The driver fled the scene without stopping and rendering aid.  The victim was transported to Memorial Hermann Hospital where he was pronounced dead.
