Suspect Arrested, Charged in Shooting at 6407 Antoine Drive

January 11, 2021 - Charges have been filed against a suspect arrested in the shooting of a man at 6407 Antoine Drive about 11 p.m. on Friday (January 8).

The suspect, Maycon Rodriguez (H/m, 20), is charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon in the 208th State District Court.  A booking photo of Rodriguez is attached to this news release.

The victim, Mario Ponce, 19, was transported to an area hospital in unknown condition.

HPD Major Assaults & Family Violence Division Detectives V. Habukiha and B. Godoy reported:

HPD patrol officers responded to a reported shooting at an apartment complex at the above address.  Upon arrival, they found Mr. Ponce lying on the ground, suffering from multiple gunshot wounds to the chest.  He was transported to the hospital by Houston Fire Department paramedics.  At the hospital he was able to provide officers with the identity of the shooter.

Officers also observed a male (Rodriguez), covered in blood, who ran from officers when they arrived.  He was taken into custody without incident.  A gun was located inside an apartment that, based upon evidence at the scene, appeared to be the site of the shooting.

Rodriguez was subsequently arrested and charged for his role in this incident.
